After setting up camp at James M. Robb Colorado State Park Fruita Section, I realized it was a little toasty in Western Colorado (95+ degrees)...so thankful for the Aliner’s air conditioning and the solitude of the evening view!
Yes! A good night sleep and it's time to explore the
Colorado National Moment and that I did via a Rim Rock Drive and a beautiful 8-mile hike…starting at the
Coke Ovens Overlook I headed west up the rocky hill on the CCC Trail, across
the plateau to hook up to the Black Ridge Trail, continued north to the Visitor
Center and then followed the road up south to the Overlook.
Truly beautiful landscapes filled with
colored rocks, grassy plateaus, rocky canyons and rugged up and down terrain. The Sego Lilies were in bloom...gorgeous!

John Otto—Thanks for following your path in life and encouraging our nation to preserve and establish this national park; truly spectacular. And that reminds me…follow your path; one person can make a difference and you are a person! Dream on…journey on…

“I
came here last year and found these canyons
and
they felt like the heart of the world to me,”
John Otto, 1907
