Leave it to a Woman!

Here she is, Queen of the Mist on her own journey in life!

Although I may be in the poorhouse at the end of this journey, I will heed Annie Edson Taylor’s advice, “If it was with my dying breath, I would caution anyone against attempting the feat... I would sooner walk up to the mouth of a cannon, knowing it was going to blow me to pieces than make another trip over the Fall.”, and not take a trip over the Falls. On October 24, 1901, Annie celebrated her 63rd birthday by being the first person (not to mention first woman), to survive going over Niagara Falls in a barrel (4-1/2’ x 3’ made of oak and metal with a mattress inside).  I can only imagine!

Peering over the edge, the mist of the cascading falls brought a cleansing and renewing feeling over my face; however, the sounds were most intriguing.

My desire was to experience Niagara Falls without the typical tourist attractions like walking through the Cave of the Winds or riding the Maid of the Mist. I opted for a bike ride around Goat, Luna and Sisters Islands and then ventured through Niagara Falls Border Customs, over Rainbow Bridge for a trek down Niagara Parkway on the Canadian side and through the Botanical Gardens.  The views were spectacular; STOP and enjoy!
