Where or where will the Aliner be tonight?

One of the exciting parts of the Venzaliner50 journey is not having scheduled camp stops and therefore not sure where the Aliner will set-up for the evening.  This makes some people a bit nervous, but I see it as exciting and a challenge for the day. Did the early settlers know where they would lay their heads in the evening?  I think not! They were probably happy to have a head in the evening. At least I don’t have to worry about that, or do I?

After departing Livingston I headed south with the plan to once again head to Yellowstone National Park. However, a non-early departure, sightseeing stops and wi-fi surfing along the way, I knew I wouldn't find a campsite.  Therefore, I settled in for the evening at Canyon Campground in the Gallatin National Forest about 20 miles north of Gardiner, MT.
The campground is right off of Highway 89, in a canyon following the Yellowstone River at the base of the mountains. Since it was near the road, it was a tad noisy with cars driving by; this diminished at dusk and I didn’t notice the noise anymore after dark.  However, what I did notice was the rockslide…hmmm.

Made me a little nervous but figured since the National Forestry Service has a campground here I’m safe; right?!  No comments, please!  Needless to say, it was a great place to settle in and the window view wasn’t bad either!

As Benjamin Franklin said, "early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise."  Off to Yellowstone in the morning; good night!
