My Minnesota stop was planned specifically to spend time with family and that I did. As mentioned in my previous post, I enjoyed catching up with my youngest son, Josh. Also enjoyed visits with my sister Kathy and Bro-in-law Mike, Nephew Jeremy and his family, and the Rohde Clan; oh, and I must not forget mom June and brother Joe and his family from Wyoming were there too.

Several days were spent at my sister’s shop in Grey Eagle, KB’s Specialties, a sewing manufacturing business which she started many years ago. Her business specializes in sewing a wide array of products including covers for boats and snowmobiles, bags for sporting equipment, stadium seats and specialized items for manufacturing facilities such as sidewinder sleeves and cinch straps. I’m proud of her accomplishments and thankful for a “free-run” of the shop to fine-tune the Venzaliner with covers for the down blankets, propane tanks, outside floor mat and bike tire; Velcro latches on the microwave, refrigerator, and drawers; a screen door to keep out the mosquitos (and it works); and many other minor improvements. Thanks KB’s Specialties staff for putting up with me!

Timing of my MN stop was perfect as I was able to catch up with the Rohde clan at niece Sara’s graduation party. CONGRATS again, Sara! It was certainly good to see everyone.
Enjoyed a stay at the Rohde Dairy Farm, a visit with Josh, Jeff & Korinna, and caught up on the farm happenings. No, I didn’t work the farm; those who know me know that the barn is not my favorite place! However, I enjoyed catching up on what Jeff & Korinna are up to on the farm…currently they are milking 60 cows and have 75 head of young stock; the current herd average is 26,553 pounds of milk. In addition, they are selling embryos from Glista, the $10K Holstein; isn’t she pretty!

Had a short stint of puppy-sitting too! Poor babies lost their mommy so Jeremy was recruiting sitters and feeders. On the drive up to the lake, my sister and I had to stop roadside for a feeding. And I thought I got strange looks with the Aliner…try sitting roadside bottle feeding puppies! Oh the strange things a person does on the Venzaliner50 Journey.
I also enjoyed a week at Anderson’s Cove on Leech Lake in Walker, MN for a family gathering. We fished, relaxed, and of course savored every last bite at the fish-fry (walleye, northern and bluegill). Thanks Mike; it was delicious!
